So much for compensating for the wrong length chain. I was riding on the return leg home and tried to shift onto the big front ring. Nothing happened. I changed gears back to what I was using and increased the cadence to try and compensate. I was trying to get my average speed up to 15.6 mph. I finally reached 15.6 mph as I exited the causeway and turned into Atascocita Shores. From there to home the average speed went up and down finally settling at 15.5 mph when I got home. The last 8 miles is residential streets with numerous stop signs and traffic crossings.<\/p>\n

Now I will look at the front derailleur to get it working again. Maybe the adjusting screws got messed up or the cable is frozen.<\/p>\n

I left home at 11:10 under a partly cloudy sky. The Houston Chronicle weather man called the weather summer lite. It was 87 when I finished with a 6 mph SE breeze. After riding the MTB yesterday I felt better riding the Stradalli RP-14 today. The route to Huffman and back was 33.8 miles<\/strong>. I did see two women bikers as I was riding east over Lake Houston. They were going west.<\/p>\n
