The last couple days were slow and somewhat mellow. I suddenly realized that I needed to return to the real world, and drastically change my eating habit. There’s a certain longing that comes with this realization, that I have to leave this beautiful area, with all these cool people, and return to the Spindletop inspired region of SE Texas, where cyclists are fewer, drivers are less nice, and people’s general livelihoods are marginalized in favor of the never ending rat race of money making.
\nI bid farewell to Adrian and his roommates in the afternoon, after downloading some audio books for the train ride the next day. I met a cyclist waiting for the train who’s planning to do a 250 miler from Ventura to San Diego in an organized 17 hour ride. I was leaving my people, but I’ll be back.
