They signal that big changes are about to come for the transit authority\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s patrons, including bicycle riders who rely on METRO buses for segments of their trips to work, school, parks and other destinations.<br \/>\nThe new bus network\u00e2\u20ac\u201dthe biggest re-imagining of the system in decades\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwill be launched on Aug. 16, with METRO offering free rides for the first week.<br \/>\nMETRO allows people to bring their bikes along when they travel on buses and METRORail trains. Unsanctioned events such as Tour de Gap are sometimes derisively referred to as T-shirt rides by egotistical USA Cycling racers because the organizers hand out T-shirts to all participants and because this type of race\/tour is typically not sanctioned by USA Cycling.<br \/>\nSanctioned or not, the field that lined up for the 56 mile race distance included quite a bit of cycling talent and saw some hard racing at every age group level.
