That was the surprising discovery when Chronicle transportation reporter Dug Begley tallied the ridership statistics for Houston&#8217;s bicycle rental system (&#8220;Awaiting expansion, B-Cycle continues to grow in Houston,&#8221; blog.chron.com\/thehighwayman, Aug. 6).<br \/>\nApparently riders can tolerate a sweat, but not a chill, with cold temperatures sending ridership plummeting but high heat having little impact.<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s hardly a problem in Houston.<br \/>\nDespite potholes, trash-filled bike lanes and, yes, the weather, Houstonians have taken to cycling as a part of our city&#8217;s transportation and recreation systems.
