We cycled in a light to medium rain throughout todays ride from Kountze to Kirbyville Texas. We rode a distance of 41 miles and I had an average speed of 12.2 mph. This may be my highest average which only occurred because it was a very flat route.<br \/>\nI had a light breakfast of cereal, waffle and a cup of coffee at the Super 8. After about 12 miles I had my second breakfast at McDonalds in the town of Silsbee.<br \/>\nWe cycled today thru and beyond an area called the Big Thicket. Its a large forested area about 100 miles long and 50 miles wide. It has areas so thick and brushy with undergrowth its known to be impenetrable jungle. The Thicket has served in the past as a handy hiding place for outlaws and smugglers.
