Counts were conducted by eleven volunteers at eight locations across the City (see Appendix 1). Locations were chosen based on where infrastructure projects are planned in the near future, where bike ridership is already well-known, high pedestrian-traffic areas. By focusing on locations that are planned to have bike infrastructure in the near future, e.g. bike lanes or sharrows, the City can track the effects of those<br \/>\nchanges with the before and after numbers. Future count data could be used to provide supporting documentation for grant applications to leverage local funding, or to help prioritize projects.<br \/>\nThis first year of data will set a baseline for the number of people biking and walking in Denton. With each subsequent year of counts, the goal is to see numbers increase for both modes.
