My road bike is in the shop for some new brakes and seat, it should be ready to pick up in a couple off days. I haven&#8217;t rode for awhile, being content to drill on the stationary bike. The weather has been unfriendly for cycling as well. The course was in the heart of the Texas Hill Country north of San Antonio, and while the altitude might be lacking, the steepness of the grades wasn&#8217;t. In &#8217;91 and &#8217;92 the course was &#8220;T&#8221; shaped with the start and finish at the bottom of the &#8220;T&#8221; which was at the top of the steepest climb (see the last 3 images). McConnelsville is on the Muskingum River in Southeast Ohio. Very rural and some hills.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/www.zanesvilletimesrecorder.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zanesvilletimesrecorder.com\/article\/20100118\/NEWS01\/1180317\/1002\/rss01\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Bicycle tour to make a stop in McConnelsville<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nBY BRIAN McKEE (Zanesville Times Recorder)<br \/>\nMcCONNELSVILLE &#8212; The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure will include a stop in McConnelsville this year.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event will take place June 19-26, and the expected 3,000 riders will gather for the tour on June 19 at the Hocking County Fairgrounds in Logan. They will begin cycling on June 20, covering an average of 50 miles per day, and will stay overnight in McConnelsville on June 20. The cyclists also will visit Marietta, Athens and McArthur before returning to Logan on June 26.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;McConnelsville had been a daytime stop on GOBA several years ago,&#8221; Amy Grove, of the OSU Extension office in McConnelsville, said. &#8220;This time we have an overnight stop. This is quite a coup for McConnelsville.This tour averages 2,100 to 3,100 cyclists.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During the past 20 years, GOBA has been instrumental in generating nearly $10 million in tourism revenues in the towns along the route, as well as providing access to Ohio&#8217;s rural treasures to cyclists from all over the U.S. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/ftwcyclingexperience.blogspot.com\" href=\"http:\/\/ftwcyclingexperience.blogspot.com\/2010\/01\/sandbagging.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>FtW CycEx: Sandbagging<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nby rab<br \/>\nThis past weekend was the Texas State Championship weekend for cyclocross.
