Got a late start (12:40 pm) on today’s bike ride putting me in the heat of the day. Getting home from church means starting late but that’s okay. I selected a shorter route riding the “Oakhurst – Valley Ranch” one for a total of 26.12 miles<\/strong>. This makes the week a total of 206.28 miles<\/strong>, the fifth week out of the last six over 200 miles. June is up to 93.27 miles<\/strong>; leaves 706.7 miles<\/strong> to reach June’s goal. I am only 4.3 miles<\/strong> from 3000 miles for the year to date.<\/p>\n

Weather during the bike ride today: start 91 (55% humidity), partly cloudy, wind W 6 mph. Finish 95 (50% humidity), a few clouds, wind 5 mph.<\/p>\n

I saw one other cyclist in Kingwood Place. He was riding south on Kingwood Place Drive as I approached from the west on Royston Drive. He was wearing a bright orange jersey.<\/p>\n

After biking through Oakhurst, Briar Tree and Valley Ranch I stopped at the Texaco station on the service road to refill my water bottle. I took this photo which kind of a selfie with me reflected in the window.<\/p>\n

When I went inside the Dickey’s BBQ aroma tried to grab me when I went to the drink dispenser to refill my water bottle but I overcame it and went back out side to continue the bike ride. Riding south I thought the wind would slow me down some but I actually was able to improve my average speed to 14.2 mph. sometimes when the trees to my right ended and an open space appeared the wind kicked up but those didn’t last long.<\/p>\n

Making the u-turn at I-69\/US59 and Nothpark Drive I rode north to get back into Kingwood through Woodridge Forest. I finished the bike ride at 2:37 pm glad to go inside and cool off. During the ride it wasn’t too bad as long as I was moving.<\/p>\n

Update on my eyeglasses. I tried some “Super” glue on my current glasses nose piece but it must be made of some oily plastic because it had no effect. Getting my old glasses out I discovered they had the same problem but not as advanced. The nose piece appears to be made of the same material. Looks like a design defect with the sharp edge of the frame cutting into the soft plastic where the two come together. If I had a 3-D printer this would be project.<\/p>\n

More hot and ry weather on Monday. I plan on riding earlier than today.<\/p>\n
