I chose the “New Caney – Gene Campbell Road” route for today’s bike ride for some variety and rode 36.56 miles<\/strong>. This put me at 758.71 miles<\/strong> for July, leaving 42 miles<\/strong> to reach my 800 mile goal. I think I can get there from here with 6 days left.<\/p>\n

Start time was 9:57 am, not quite as early as I wanted but early enough to get me home before the real heat arrived. Ride ended at 12:38 pm.<\/p>\n

Weather during the bike ride: start 87 (57% humidity), partly cloudy, wind NE 4 mph. Finish 94 (43% humidity), a few clouds, wind calm. With the light breeze I didn’t have much trouble with a headwind and built my overall average speed up to 14.8 mph and held it at 14.7 until around 32.4 miles when I rode into Kings Manor and then Kingwood where I slowed down for traffic and stop signs.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
