One Hidalgo County community can expect some major upgrades to a local park.<\/p>\n

In Penitas, Katrina Park is one of the few outdoor spaces where residents can get active despite some much-needed improvements.<\/p>\n

Thanks to a $30,000 grant funded by The National Recreation and Park Association and the Walt Disney Company, the park will see those upgrades made to the playground and soccer fields, as well as the running trail that many frequent.<\/p>\n

“We’re hoping to get that paved. So, it can be a lot safer for walkers, runners, mothers with strollers, or even cycling or bikes,” Andrea Valdez, with …<\/p>\n
