She&#8217;s biking 400 miles to raise awareness about opioid addiction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I kept saying, &#8216;Why isn&#8217;t anyone doing anything about this? I see people dying every weekend, why isn&#8217;t anyone doing something?&#8217; And then I realized, sometimes you have to be the one to do it,&#8221; said Krupp.<\/p>\n<p>Krupp is a strength and conditioning coach in Texas. Thankfully, these are just symptoms of seasonal sacrifice; seasons that I am sure all of us are familiar with. For our law enforcement officials, however, all of the above, is standard protocol. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The TXFallenPD Tribute is an annual bike race that first began in 2008 when police officers united to honor fallen Texas officers. Since 2008, this event has grown from a symbolic tradition into a community fundraising event that includes a 5K, a civilian bike race, and a police obstacle course race. However, no matter how much this event grows, the focus will forever remain the same. That made NOLA a great backdrop for the 2018 Walk, Bike, Places Conference held there in September.<\/p>\n<p>I learned a lot, and it was a great opportunity to compare notes with our friends at BikeEasy, NOLA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s nonprofit organization advocating for people on bikes. The conference brought together planners, transportation engineers, public health professionals, elected officials, community leaders, placemakers and professional walking and bicycling advocates together to &#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/bikehouston.org\/2018\/10\/01\/10-dangerous-intersections-houston-asks-the-feds-for-help\/\">10 Dangerous Intersections: Houston Asks The Feds For Help<\/a><\/h2>\n<h3>BikeHouston.org<\/h3>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bikehouston.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Jessica-intersections.jpg?resize=1200%2C618&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"1200\" height=\"618\" \/><br \/>\nOn Bike to Work Day in May 2018 following a series of bicyclist fatalities, Mayor Turner directed BikeHouston and the City to work together to identify and improve 10 intersections considered dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>BikeHouston answered the call. We engaged our members and other advocates to help identify intersections that posed the greatest threat to safety.
