I thought today’s bike ride wouldn’t be so windy but not the case. When I set on the “Atascocita – Walden – E. Lake Houston Parkway” route I looked at the NWAA app on my phone and saw the wind was from the south at 15 mph. Since this route goes south that meant a headwind until the last 10 miles when it probably would become a tailwind. I left at 10:22 AM which is early for me so far this year. Weather during the bike ride: start 74 (69% humidity), mostly cloudy, wind S 15 mph. Finish 77 (65% humidity), mostly cloudy, wind S 17 mph, gusts 23 mph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the strong wind I dressed for a chill with shorts, long sleeve thermal jersey, and wind jacket. In the beginning I felt a little cool but as I warmed up that passed and I was comfortable for the rest of the bike ride. I am ready for warmer weather so I can skip the thermal jersey and jacket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whenever I rode in the open I knew the wind had picked up from the 15 mph at the start. Only after I finished the ride at 12:32 PM and checked the NWAA app again did I see how much the wind increased. This explained why it require so much effort riding into the headwind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe Wednesday the wind will let up. The weather will change Wednesday evening when another front moves through but I should be able to ride during the day. I thought April was known for showers, not strong winds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
