Many are in underserved communities where people rely on their bikes for work and errands.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2018, Commissioner Rodney Ellis announced he was committing $10 million in Precinct One funds for new on-street bike lanes that could be developed in Houston over a 12-month time frame.<\/p>\n<p>A year later, we sat down with Ellis at his office near NRG Park to follow up on what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been accomplished. &#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/foxsanantonio.com\/news\/local\/veterans-ride-bikes-from-austin-to-dallas-and-back-for-project-hero\">Veterans ride bikes from Austin to Dallas and back for &#8216;Project Hero&#8217;<\/a><\/h2>\n<h3>by Andrea Carden | foxsanantonio.com<\/h3>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/foxsanantonio.com\/resources\/media\/c2c43ae0-ad2b-45a0-a111-75a398f32b79-large16x9_VetsbikefromDallastoAustin.png?w=1200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A group of veterans and their supporters just pulled off an impressive feat.<\/p>\n<p>They rode their bikes all the way from Dallas to Austin, then back again.<\/p>\n<p>That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s more than 300 miles, all as part of &quot;Project Hero&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>The veterans say they &#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bicycleretailer.com\/opinion-analysis\/2019\/04\/21\/vosper\">OK, so we have 7,000 bike shops. Now what?<\/a><\/h2>\n<h3>by Rick Vosper | www.bicycleretailer.com<\/h3>\n<p>In BRAIN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s April 1 issue, BPSA executive director Ray Keener wrote a pair of pieces, Just how many bike shops are there, anyway? and Is the number of shops shrinking? Both articles are based on conversations with industry consultant and self-described \u00e2\u20ac\u0153data wizard\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Christopher Georger and his company, Georger Data Services (GDS). GDS maintains a database of more than 7,000 U.S. bicycle retailers based on bike brands\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 dealer lists.<\/p>\n<p>As it happens, I interviewed Georger around the same time as Keener had spoken to him, but my queries led in a different direction. Given that most of the guys I ride with are over 50, that news really hits home.<\/p>\n<p>So I&#8217;m wondering, how many of y&#8217;all are CPR certified?  Would CPR make a difference if someone is having a heart attack on the trail?
