Construction begins Monday<\/p>\n

on Guadalupe, Lavaca streets<\/p>\n

Construction will begin Monday on transit improvements to Guadalupe and Lavaca streets.<\/p>\n

That will be preceded by a 24-hour lane closure on Guadalupe between 18th Street and 100 feet north of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard starting Saturday. This closure will remain in place during the initial construction phase, which will last at least four weeks. Construction on the whole project is anticipated to take four to five months.<\/p>\n

Improvements will include a new full traffic signal at Lavaca and 18th streets, including a bus-only signal phase; a transit signal at Guadalupe and MLK; striping changes on Guadalupe, 18th and Lavaca streets; a new northbound contraflow bus lane on Guadalupe between 18th and MLK; and upgrades to the existing bicycle infrastructure on these streets with a new shared-use bicycle and pedestrian path on the east side of Guadalupe between 18th and MLK.<\/p>\n
