And the next morning, they will head on to Steamboat Springs. But that is just part of their journey \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the students are participating in the Texas 4000, a ride from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska, to raise money and awareness for cancer. It is the longest annual charity bike ride in the world.<\/p>\n<p>After Wednesday&#8217;s ride (about 100 miles, climbing 4300 feet) the students will be hosted in comfort thanks to the Estes Park YMCA of the Rockies. A group of students from Texas are doing just that. A labor of love is driving them to ride thousands of miles across the country from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska to give hope to those that have been touched cancer. Texas 4000 was founded by Chris and Mandy Condit in 2004. Chris a cancer survivor was diagnosed with Hodgkin&#8217;s lymphoma when he was eleven years old.
