Spring Creek Greenway Law Enforcement?<\/a><\/h2>\n

I saw the following post on Facebook this morning. Are they really stopping cyclists using the trail?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u009dFYI to anyone who uses the Spring Creek Greenway (not to be confused with the Spring Creek Nature Trail in case you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re unaware) for cycling:<\/p>\n

Beginning today 8\/3\/19 and moving forward, the sheriff and constables are policing the Spring Creek Greenway between Dennis Johnston Park, Pundt Park, Carter Park and Jesse Jones Park. They have devices to detect speeds and are issuing tickets for greater than the 10mph or 15mph posted speed limits. They are also monitoring the Dismount Zones at the various stop signs and are issuing tickets if you do not Totally get off your bike and walk it across. This is an ongoing effort to make the trails safe for all.<\/p>\n

Yesterday (Saturday, August 3 at approximately 9:00am) I personally was stopped by a Deputy Constable at one of the stop signs because I did not come to a complete stop and dismount. The officer was very nice and explained that they had an accident a few days prior where somebody was exceeding the posted speed limit around a curve and ran into another rider breaking the other riders collarbone therefore, the Constable informed them that they are to start writing tickets for not stopping at stop signs or exceeding the speed limit on the path. (Remember my statement that he was very nice? He was! He did not give me a ticket but, clarified that it was a verbal warning.) Safe Riding my fellow peddlers! Make It a GREAT Day!
