I don&#8217;t often ride in Liberty County but on today&#8217;s route &#8220;May Park Community Center &#8211; Huffman&#8221; I rode about 200 yards into the county before making a u-turn on FM 1960 to begin the trip back to Kingwood. October 9th, 2019, was the last time I rode this route. Not sure why it took me so long to ride it again but I will blame it on time, weather, and forgetfulness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sunset Limited, First 2020 Liberty County Bike Ride\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dRhwvTaPN_o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I began the ride at 11:41 AM as the temperature reached 80 degrees at my home weather station. The sky started to clear making for a great day to ride a bike. I chose the Canyon Endurace CF SLX bike to travel today&#8217;s <strong>41.89 miles<\/strong> (6\/10&#8217;s of a mile farther than October&#8217;s ride). How the weather looked while I biked: start 80 (75% humidity, 71.2 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind E 7 mph. Finish 85 (58% humidity, 68.8 dew point), a few clouds, wind S 7 mph. My choice of clothing: shorts, long sleeve jersey (didn&#8217;t need it but I wore it anyway), and a short sleeve jersey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bike rides in this direction seem to be harder to get my average speed above 14.0 mph. I think there are more starts and stops plus not many long uninterrupted stretches. Once I got my average to 14.0 mph I held it there until returning to Kingwood. I made one stop during the ride for ice at the store at the corner of Wolf Road and FM 2100. Now that temperature is warming up one water bottle doesn&#8217;t last the ride. I tried to be careful of what I touched going in and a store employee opened the door to let me out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My timing was good to be biking east on FM 1960 when the Amtrak train passed. I think the primary difference is the Zwift miles. Prior to this year I rarely rode indoors during the winter.
