With the bridge repair to the south I needed a route to the north so I chose the “New Caney – Tavola – Valley Ranch” route starting at 11:09 AM. The bridge repair could last until May 20th but I am hoping the contractor makes quick work of it. I might drive south of the repair location and start biking from there. Today’s ride traveled 34.08 miles<\/strong> pushing April’s total to 910.79 miles<\/strong>. I biked this route 8 times so far in 2020. Ride summaries below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weather conditions changed from yesterday’s sunshine. From the start the threat of getting wet loomed with a rain drop hitting me before I rode 100 feet. Wet streets and puddles dotted the route signaling rain preceded me. As I rode north I heard thunder to the east and dark clouds seemed ready to let loose but I made it home at 1:46 PM gritty and soaked from the humidity and sweat but no rain. I glanced down at the Canyon a couple times to see road grit on the chain stays so after finishing the ride I washed the Canyon. Weather conditions as I biked: start 81 (86% humidity, 76.4 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind S 12 mph gusts 20 mph. Finish 76 (97% humidity, 75.4 dew point), overcast, wind S 8 mph. The strong wind faded after I started the ride. At the end of the ride notice the dew point versus the temperature; the air was loaded with moisture wanting to fall on me. Wednesday the overcast and rain should leave making for great biking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
