Bicycle sales are soaring across the county as people trying to find socially distant activities flood bike shops with orders and calls for service.<\/p>\n

Officers assigned to the Bike Patrol Team use specially equipped mountain bikes and are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of law enforcement bicycle patrol school. The bike patrol serves many purposes.<\/p>\n

It is deployed for routine patrol, targeted enforcement (special crime issues), and for special events. It allows officers to easily interact with citizens since officers on a bike are more accessible than those in a car. Officers are also able to move quickly through parking lots and special events.<\/p>\n
