House approves $52 million investment in Chacon Creek restoration<\/a><\/h2>\n

Laredo\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Rep. Henry Cuellar announced Thursday that the restoration of Chacon Creek has been funded for close to $52 million in the Water Resources Development Act of 2020, which has been approved by the House of Representatives. It still needs to be approved in the Senate.<\/p>\n

This money will be used to restore the wetlands and ecosystem of the creek from Lake Casa Blanca all the way to the Rio Grande. This restoration will also involve the improvement and creation of recreational spaces along the creek. Officials compared it to a similar restoration of the lower San Antonio River. …<\/p>\n
