AUSTIN, Texas \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Some encouraging and discouraging news from the City\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s of Austin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s traffic department: Since the first of the year, the number of serious injuries from traffic crashes has seen a sharp decline, but the number of deaths has increased over previous years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The data is included in a new website launched Tuesday as part of the City\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Vision Zero project, a citywide effort to reduce and eventually eliminate deaths and serious injuries from wrecks. Michael Frederick Doyle was born on February 23, 1952 to John and Libby Doyle in Battle Creek, Michigan. After graduation from St. Phillip High School, the family moved to Brownsville, Texas. Throughout his years, while attending Local Junior College and North Texas State University, Mike, as he was affectionately known, worked various jobs. He was especially proud of the time he spent working for Braniff Airlines. He ultimately found his passion working in the bicycle business where he received his certification at the Schwinn School in Chicago, Illinois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike arrived in Laredo, Texas in 1986 and with the help of his brother John, founded ProBike on June 4th of that year. Not knowing any Spanish which he knew was going to be a vital part of his success in this border community, he hired a Spanish tutor to learn it. Bicyclist killed on Highway 59<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An Atlanta, Texas, man riding a bicycle was killed Tuesday on U.S. Highway 59.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operator of the bicycle, Faustino Garcia, 62, died at the scene of the accident, according to a preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accident happened at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday. DPS Troopers were notified of a crash on U.S 59 just north of \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bicyclist Injured in Russell, KS<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A Texas woman was injured Tuesday afternoon in Russell when she was struck by a pickup while on her bicycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to dispatch logs, at 12:15 PM Tuesday, a woman at USA Express at 17 South Fossil Street called 911 to report a female on her bicycle had been struck by a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Stephan Coleman of Russell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russell County EMS and Russell Police Officers responded. \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rotary hits brakes on Stone Fort Bike Ride<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Formerly delayed until October, the Old Stone Fort Bike Ride is the latest event to be canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual multi-course ride, which raises funds for the Nacogdoches Rotary Club, has been rescheduled for April 24, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ride joins other events like the Texas Blueberry Festival and Sacred Heart Multicultural Festival that were initially postponed because of the virus but later canceled as the pandemic continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of Wednesday, the Nacogdoches Jaycees are \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n\n\n\n
