And for a cyclist, the world at more than 14,000 feet above sea level in the Colorado mountains creates an even more rarefied experience.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Kingwood&#8217;s Scott Ahrendt, who made a 120-mile Colorado trek in July while there on a business trip, is every bit as excited about a September cycling event right here in Houston. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/www.southbendtribune.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.southbendtribune.com\/article\/20100802\/EMERGENCY01\/100809952\/1130\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&#8216;Desert to Dome&#8217; riders reaches Texas<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nby South Bend Tribune<br \/>\nThe couple started their month-long cross-country bicycle ride July 24. Lack of preparation in several areas culminated in this near disaster. For those of you who ride or wish to ride, take note of my mistakes. Taken one mile before the rest stop where the two routes separated. The images are in the race order at that point taken between 8:15 and 9:30 AM.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike a marathon, this happens much faster and the badge numbers if they exist are all but impossible to see or record. If you know where you were in the pack and where you were in the start order, that may help to locate your photo. There&#8217;s 31 pages of photos below.
