In a huge blow to anyone on a bike in west Houston and the Energy Corridor, Steve Radack, as one of his final acts on his way out of office, quietly implemented a full-time speed limit of 10mph in Terry Hershey. Constables have been in the park for the last 4 or 5 days tagging people on bikes with radar guns and issuing warnings, and today the signs went up. I’ll let you read the post below for all the info. But thus far there have been no official news releases about this – just word of mouth from a cyclist from one of the Constables.<\/p>\n

New Bike Trail Will Highlight Nature Areas Along Houston\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Sims Bayou<\/a><\/h2>\n

The trail is the longest segment constructed at one time in the extensive Bayou Greenways network. It will link three Houston parks and connect neighborhoods in the southern part of the city.\n\"\"\/<\/p>\n

The Houston Parks Board has started work on a new segment of the Sims Bayou Greenway in southwest Houston, the latest project along the 122-mile Bayou Greenways trail system.<\/p>\n

The six-mile segment will continue the Sims Bayou trail from Scott Street west to Buffalo Speedway, passing underneath State Highway 288. The trail will connect Margaret Jenkins Park, Houston Sports Park, and Townwood Park.<\/p>\n

PEARLAND, Texas \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Repair crews worked to replace glass and frames that were left damaged by thieves at a Pearland bicycle shop early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The thieves also visited several bike shops across the Houston area in a matter of months.<\/p>\n

In one burglary, the thieves broke into a Blue Line Bike Lab in The Heights around 1 a.m. on Dec. 3. Surveillance video shows a driver ramming a U-HAUL truck up a curb and right into the front door of the shop, allowing entry into the business.<\/p>\n

2021 Texas MS 150 Update<\/a><\/h2>\n

from a December 8th email\nI hope that your week is off to a good start. My name is Andrew Davis and I am a Volunteer Engagement Specialist with the National MS Society. I am reaching out to let you know that the 2021 Texas MS 150 has been officially scheduled for May 1st. After much discussion and planning, Bike MS: Texas MS 150 will be hosted as a one-day in-person experience in order for us to provide the safest experience possible.<\/p>\n

We are excited to launch four NEW routes this year between 70 and 100 miles! There will be three routes from Houston and one from La Grange, all finishing on Kyle Field! More information to come as we are in the preliminary phases of planning.<\/p>\n

We will have safety measures in place to ensure the safety of everyone involved including mask requirements, social distancing, hand cleaning stations, and no-touch protocols.<\/p>\n

More information on our safety measures will be made available in the coming months. Volunteer registration links will also be launched towards the beginning of the new year so be on the lookout for that. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to me or your team lead.<\/p>\n
