Now he&#8217;s taking on Texas.<\/p>\n<p>The wiry 64-year-old cancer survivor is biking alone across the state on a quest to raise awareness about the disease that kills more than 500,000 Americans each year and nearly killed him.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s also raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps soldiers injured overseas to transition to civilian life.<\/p>\n<p>This is Boren&#8217;s sixth time on a long-distance bicycle jaunt.<\/p>\n<p>Previous rides have taken the Dallas native around Texas&#8217; perimeter, all the way to Los Angeles and even from Dallas to New York.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>from the San Antonio Express-News (full article) by Moises D.
