Cyclist killed on Thursday night identified as 56-year-old Texarkana man<\/a><\/h2>\n

A man killed Thursday night while riding a bicycle on West Seventh Street has been identified as Herman Sitzes, 56, of Texarkana, Texas.<\/p>\n

TEXARKANA, Texas \u00e2\u20ac\u201d A man killed Thursday night while riding a bicycle on West Seventh Street has been identified as Herman Sitzes, 56, of Texarkana, Texas.<\/p>\n

The accident happened at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n

Investigators believe Sitzes was trying to cross the 3500 block of West Seventh Street on his bicycle when he was struck by a westbound Lincoln Navigator and killed, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for the Texarkana Texas Police Department.<\/p>\n

Sitzes was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Navigator was not injured. No charges are expected to be filed against the driver, according to investigators.<\/p>\n

Work Continues on Northeast Texas Trail in Red River County<\/p>\n

Texas Department of Transportation officials announced that phase two of a project to upgrade and improve a portion of the Northeast Texas Trail in Red River County began Jan. 15.<\/p>\n

The contractor, Encino Landscape Inc., was granted 168 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $682,000. The target completion date is fall 2021, officials said.<\/p>\n

The contractor will construct bicycle infrastructure improvements along the trail from Bagwell to Clarksville. This work will extend along 6.1 miles of the trail, beginning …<\/p>\n
