Roy was born in Waco, Texas on April 16, 1950 to Myrtle Arlene (Esko) and Roy Collom Toone, Sr. He was a graduate of Waco High School, where he was a member of the JROTC and played trombone in the band. Roy went on to study Electrical Engineering at Texas A&amp;M University, earning a bachelors in 1972 and masters in 1974. He was also in the Corps of Cadets and a proud member of the Fightin&#8217; Texas Aggie Band. Roy met and married his wife, Betti Leonette (Zane) in 1974. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; Roy was a family man, happiest spending his time with his children, supporting and coaching them in their sports, music, and other extracurriculars, and teaching them his numerous handy-man skills.
