Today I got a taste of what’s to come when I entered Texas Hill country. Had a wonderful stay at the fort Clarke campground. The fort is a huge complex and was a nice early morning ride to take me to my second breakfast after the pizza. I found breakfast tacos which Had just opened up at 8 o’clock. An egg and Bacon taco and egg and chorizo did the trick.

I feel like I’m settling into a groove and the miles are accumulating. Today I passed over 500 for the trip which means I’m a quarter done. I usually think about taking a break every 10 miles or so. Sometimes it’s just a matter of getting out of the saddle and straddling the bike that will do the trick. Other times I will need to get off the bike and stretch or go lay down for a few minutes.

Today I was able to mail my package home and I can tell a difference in volume and in weight. The climbing has been extraordinary and the reward magnificent. Just so nice to be flying down roads after the challenge of climbing to the summit.
