Today’s ride was with partly cloudy skies and a temperature of 93 degrees. The forecast is for 99 degrees with a heat index near 110. Wind was not a factor at 9 mph from the southwest. Humidity dropped while I was riding. The official alert:

The heat advisory is now in effect until 7 PM CDT Monday.
Very hot conditions are expected to continue today and Monday as
an upper level ridge of high pressure remains parked over Texas.
Daytime high temperatures are expected to reach 98 to 104 degrees
inland… mid 90s along the coast. Overnight low temperatures will
only drop into the middle and upper 70s. The combination of the
heat and high humidity will result in maximum heat index values of
105 to 110 degrees each afternoon.

Even with this weather today’s ride was not that bad. I was thinking the sun does not seem as intense as it did earlier in the month. It is only a month to the first day of fall and the sun is moving further to the south.

No riders were spotted today. Even the jogger I usually see at Valley Ranch was not out. The route today is my normal one for a Sunday. With the new service roads along US59 there is plenty of room bikes and traffic. I made my goal of 130 miles for the week. I have the same goal for next week due to not riding on next Sunday when we will be returning from Wichita Falls. I might try to get a short ride in before we hit the road though.

Today’s ride statistics:

miles 25.27

riding time 1:43:27

average pace 4:06 min/mile

average speed 14.7 mph

max speed 20.3 mph

average cadence 78.1 rpm

max cadence 106 rpm

climb 199 ft., descend 169 ft., max elevation 109 ft.

August miles 411.04

This week’s miles 132.81

YTD miles 3519.51

Click on one of the images below to enlarge it and move to the others.

[nggallery id=99]

[iframe http://connect.garmin.com:80/activity/embed/45682388 465 548] The intense heat is ruling the weather.
