Registration opens for Tour de France-affiliated cycling event set for 2022<\/a><\/h2>\n

Registration is now open for what organizers hope will be the city\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s largest-ever cycling event next year, an array of rides for both serious racers and recreational cyclists staged by a group affiliated with the Tour de France.<\/p>\n

L\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Etape San Antonio sponsor Michael Brown and local sports and tourism officials announced details at a press conference Tuesday, following news last month that Brown had chosen San Antonio as the site for the event, set for April 10, 2022.<\/p>\n

The Bastrop City Council is poised to adopt a new ordinance to regulate electric bicycle, GPS-equipped bicycle and motor-assisted scooter services in the city.<\/p>\n

The City Council on May 25 voted 4-0 to approve the first reading of the ordinance, which would go into effect should it pass a second vote June 8.<\/p>\n

Only four members of the council were present during the May 25 meeting to vote on the ordinance. Council Member Bill Peterson was \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

Hating Critical Mass is easy to do in a city like Houston.<\/p>\n

The monthly group ride is pretty much everything this traffic-choked city loathes: A freewheeling procession of cyclists that sometimes disregard traffic laws, ride where they please and generally make drivers nervous.<\/p>\n

I, too, held my own mixed feelings about the cadre of bicyclists that take over the streets of Houston at the end of every month \u00e2\u20ac\u201d but those beliefs have shifted after participating in a ride for myself last week. \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

Back on February 23 I wrote 10 Techniques I Used to Bicycle 500 Days in a Row. With today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ride I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve added 100 more to that. Quite by accident, coincidence or kismet, the screen shot of the dates (below) was taken with 66% of my phone battery left at 6:00 pm. How cool is that? So yeah, every day for a whole year, seven months and 22 days, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve swung a leg over the top tube of Sophie the Fairdale Weekender Archer (and occasionally Sonnie the GT Arette) and pedaled away. But here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the thing: I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t recommend it, unless you enjoy a challenge like the one attributed to \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

My first time to try the McKinney Wed night ride. I believe this used to be the McKinney Velo ride. Unfortunately I went through a series of pot holes and got a pinch flat and was thus dropped. Fixed my flat and was about to head back the way I came (because I didn’t have the route downloaded). But then the small B group came by and I rode in with them. The bummer is to make that drive and then not get to do the ride.<\/p>\n

The best thing about this ride was the rain\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/a><\/h2>\n
