Lubbock awarded grant to improve mountain bike trails<\/a><\/h2>\n

The winding mountain bike trails through some of the most scenic areas Lubbock has to offer will get some enhancements in the near future.<\/p>\n

Colby Van Gundy, Lubbock’s director of parks and recreation, says the city has been awarded a grant from Texas Parks & Wildlife to make improvements to the Dunbar Lake Mountain Bike Trails.<\/p>\n

Improvements will include the construction of a trailhead kiosk, trail markers, water station and bike racks along the already existing trail.<\/p>\n

Tour de Paris committee seeks volunteers<\/a><\/h2>\n

The annual Tour de Paris Bicycle rally will take place July 17 at Love Civic Center. It will start at 8 a.m. and continue until the final rider returns. There are seven total courses, two off-road on the Trail de Paris, and five routes on county roads. With 236 total miles in roads, volunteers are needed to help make sure riders stay safe, hydrated and refreshed.<\/p>\n

Volunteers will have a lot of responsibilities, said Becky Semple, tourism director for the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n
