Mark your calendars for the City of San Antonio\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s World Heritage Festival happening Sept. 8-12. The festival will feature outdoor events and virtual program offerings to celebrate San Antonio\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s historic missions as the first and only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The traditions and shared history that began thousands of years ago and evolved with the many ethnic groups over time have created the San Antonio we live in today,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Mayor Ron Nirenberg said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Our historic San Antonio missions are a reminder of the influences that have helped make San Antonio a unique and authentic city. Registration fees range from $15-30. The Tour de las Misiones Bike Ride, Walk and Run begins and ends at Mission Park Pavilion. The events will include a leisurely ride ranging from 7- to 22-miles with stops at each mission and an enjoyable 5 or 10K walk and run through the scenic river reach and Mission San Jose. Participants who register by Aug. 30 are guaranteed to receive a commemorative finisher\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s medal, runner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bib, passport, and T-shirt. Some days, she clocked 100 miles on the bike.<\/p>\n<p>Velez lists the states she traversed on two wheels \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma.<\/p>\n<p>She was with a team of 20. At night, they stayed at YMCAs, churches or &#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crosstimbersgazette.com\/2021\/09\/08\/highland-village-city-update-september-2021\/\">Highland Village City Update \u00e2\u20ac\u201d September 2021<\/a><\/h2>\n<h4>www.crosstimbersgazette.com<\/h4>\n<p>&#8230; Our police department and the City are once again hosting the TXFallenPD Tribute Event to raise funds for the Texas Police Chiefs Association\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Fallen Officer Fund, this year in honor of Sgt. Oliver. Since 2008 the department has held a bike race and 5k run fundraiser for the families of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and, with the help of the community, has contributed over $280,000 to the fund. The event, held the third Saturday in October, will continue again this year with some enhancements.<\/p>\n<p>The TXFallenPD Tribute Event will be held at The Shops at Highland Village on Saturday, Oct. 16 and will include a 5K run, an Honor Bike Ride for civilians and first responders, a Kid Ride with an Officer, and a police bike obstacle course.
