San Antonio \u00e2\u20ac\u201c On Thursday, repairs and other work continued at the South Flores bike store once owned by Tito Bloodshaw, a beloved figure in the San Antonio cycling community.<\/p>\n

The day before, Linda Collier Mason, a 70-year-old driver convicted of manslaughter in Bradshaw\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s death, was sentenced to 20 days in prison, 100 days under house arrest, and 10 years on probation. ..<\/p>\n

Mason, who had no record in the past, beat and killed Bloodshaw while riding a bike in East Houston in 2019.<\/p>\n

Joe Richard Naranjo, owner of the Ride in Paradise Bike Shop, said the judicial deal \u00e2\u20ac\u0153doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even hurt the surface,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d although she owes to the community and Bradshaw\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s family.<\/p>\n

Day 17 – Ride (10) – 2 miles west of Tornillo, TX to El Paso, TX<\/h4>\n

Saturday October 23, 2021, 32 miles (52 km) – Total so far: 476 miles (766 km)\nAt 32.4 miles, today was the shortest ride of Stage 5 (not counting the road race make-up). That’s because we called 2 audibles – one at each end of today’s ride. Yesterday was so nice, and wind-friendly we decided to ride an extra 10 miles. And, in order to ride downtown El Paso on Sunday morning, we shortened the route today by 6 miles. The result is that today was short. Very short.<\/p>\n

Trivia question: What are the top 2 crops grown in the Rio Grande valley south of El Paso? (Hint: You’ve already seen both.)<\/p>\n

Because today was short, we decided not to leave the campground until 8:00. That allowed us to be "shoes up" at 8:45. …<\/p>\n

Day 18 – Ride (11) – El Paso, TX to Las Cruces, NM: Whew! We’ve finally crossed Texas!<\/h4>\n

Sunday October 24, 2021, 53 miles (86 km) – Total so far: 530 miles (852 km)\nGood ride today! Our plan to ride through El Paso on Sunday morning when traffic might be light. Indeed it was.<\/p>\n

We got off to a nice sunrise start at 7:45. Sunny skies, of course, and temps cool enough to merit a jacket for the first hour. As we got away from downtown we had a 7 mile stretch of freshly paved road, with retail stores, restaurants, fast food, and strip shopping centers. Sunday morning traffic was light. Quite delightful ride out of El Paso, actually.<\/p>\n

Trivia Question of the day: We’ve finally made all the way through Texas. How far did we ride to do that? …<\/p>\n
