David Chisham says faith in Jesus Christ not only bodes well for eternity but also for the here and now.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Some people feel that the only point to faith is that we get to go to Heaven when we die, but Jesus\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s resurrection means for us that he is alive and at work among us today,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said the Rev. Chisham, new pastor of the First Christian Church at 1301 W. Louisiana Ave. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153He can transform our priorities and relationships and give us hope for living.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Chisham is a 50-year-old native of Wichita, Kan., who earned bachelor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, master\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and doctoral degrees at Abilene Christian University and Drew University in Madison, N.J., before serving as a minister in Arlington, Va., Rockville, Md., and Baton Rouge, La. Might be my favorite state so far. Yeah, we had some tough weather a few days ago with that bomb cyclone that came through, or whatever the technical term is for &#8216;Too Much Windy &#8211; Stay Inside&#8217;. Overall the people are courteous, drivers usually give PLENTY of room while passing, food has been great for the most part, and the whole state is quite scenic and changes gradually heading from east to west into a drier prairie. At the extreme west just before Texas, where we are today, the towns really turn into literal ghost towns. Same predicted for tomorrow. We started off in the mid-30 degree range and didn&#8217;t warm up much from there. This panhandle is cold. It&#8217;s got to be warmer down in the actual pan. But &#8211; this is a short stretch of Route 66, and we&#8217;ll be in New Mexico in just a few days. &#8230;\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.crazyguyonabike.com\/pics\/docs\/00\/02\/38\/54\/small\/IMG_6582.JPG?w=1200\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<h4>DAY 66: Groom, TX to Amarillo, TX: We&#8217;re Full-On Texas Tourists Today<\/h4>\n<p>Wednesday November 3, 2021, 43 miles (69 km) &#8211; Total so far: 2,514 miles (4,046 km)\nAnother cold one. Even colder than yesterday, actually. We&#8217;ve got the gear for it&#8230; but I&#8217;m too stubborn to break it out just yet (long underwear, balaclava, shoe covers, more layers in general).
