Last year, Rohan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s uncle started a similar bike drive in Corpus Christi, and it impressed and motivated Rohan to start his own.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153He wants to do this drive every year going forwards,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said his father, Pankaj Ahuja.<\/p>\n<p>Rohan has collected &#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/opinion\/editorials\/2021\/11\/15\/dallas-is-getting-serious-about-being-a-biking-city\/\">Dallas is getting serious about being a biking city<\/a><\/h2>\n<h4>www.dallasnews.com<\/h4>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dmn-dallas-news-prod.cdn.arcpublishing.com\/resizer\/t7rBAPYJvTdWbTthXS0anLFvPts%3D\/1660x934\/smart\/filters%3Ano_upscale%28%29\/cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com\/dmn\/7PFA7I27BNT55UB34NWDVK4YFE.jpg?w=1200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Tucked into a stack of recent memos at Dallas City Hall was one that made us smile.<\/p>\n<p>In its best bureaucrat-ese, the memo explained that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153[g]iven the importance placed on multi-modal transportation, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 adopted budget includes $2 million for the bike lane program.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot in that sentence to celebrate, and much more in the information that follows. First is the statement that Dallas actually does place importance on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153multi-modal transportation\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201d that is, getting around in some way that doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mean getting in the car.<\/p>\n<p>We have been talking about that for a long time. The city\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s original bike plan dates to 1985. There were some good ideas in there (of course) but not quite enough tips. And since we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve had a few low temperatures approaching 40 F, which is the high in some places, I figure it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s time to stop turning a cold shoulder to this topic. I shouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t complain; 40 F is warm for many people in northern climes.
