Bike riding event to support East Texas Food Bank on Sunday<\/a><\/h2>\n

East Texas bicycle riders are invited to participate in an endurance course on Sunday at Faulkner Park in Tyler to support the East Texas Food Bank.<\/p>\n

The event is sponsored by Simpson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Fitness & Adventure Sports in Whitehouse.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153For every lap our riders complete, Simpson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s will donate two dollars to the East Texas Food Bank,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d event organizer Justin Brown said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We support the efforts of the East Texas Food Bank in fighting hunger and want to be a part of their mission.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Northeast Texas Trail Coalition awarded $7.5 million in grants to fully develop 27 miles of NE Texas Trail<\/a><\/h2>\n

The Northeast Texas Trail Coalition is very pleased to announce that four TxDOT grants totaling nearly $7.5 million were recently awarded to fully develop over 27 miles of the east half of the NETT.<\/p>\n

These federal funding dollars were earmarked specifically for Transportation Alternatives projects such as sidewalks, shared-use paths, bike lanes, pedestrian bridges, and other features that enhance bicycle and pedestrian safety for all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n

These grants are incredibly helpful toward realizing the NorthEast Texas Trail Coalition\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ambitious goal of becoming a Texas Parks and Wildlife State Linear Park. Once completed, the NETT will be the 4th longest trail in the United States and the longest trail in Texas.<\/p>\n

City of Austin begins design of urban trail on abandoned rail corridor<\/a><\/h2>\n

The city of Austin’s Urban Trails Program has begun design on an urban trail that would run through the Bergstrom Spur Corridor, according to a Dec. 1 press release.<\/p>\n

The trail stretches about 6.5 miles from Vinson Drive in South Austin to East Riverside Drive and US 183 in southeast Austin, near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.<\/p>\n

The project had been identified as an important link along the city’s pedestrian, bicycle and transit networks in 2017 by the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and in the 2019 Austin Strategic Mobility Plan.<\/p>\n
