First phase of South Lamar bike lanes delayed nearly two years<\/a><\/h2>\n

Work on a major face-lift to South Lamar Boulevard between Riverside Drive and Barton Springs Road was supposed to have been well underway by now, but as those who frequent the stretch know, not much has changed.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because the \u201croad diet\u201d project, which will remove one lane each way to add protected bike lanes and wider sidewalks, has been delayed until at least late fall or early winter of this year \u2013 nearly two years later than planned \u2013 the Corridor Program Office told the Austin Monitor this week. \u201cIt is not uncommon for large-scale infrastructure improvement projects, such as the Corridor Construction Program, to encounter construction delays,\u201d spokesperson Dea Crichton said.<\/p>\n

A crucial addition to Houston’s bike lane network in the Third Ward is inching closer to a reality.<\/p>\n

Planning and Development Department officials will host a virtual meeting with community members to iron out how and where to install bike lanes along Blodgett and Cleburne streets, which will create an east-west bike route in Third Ward that currently doesn’t exist. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3 via Microsoft Teams.<\/p>\n

Texas MS150 kicks off at Aggieland Outfitters<\/a><\/h2>\n

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The two-day Texas MS150 cycling event will finish in College Station this year. Aggieland Outfitters is hosting the third annual Texas MS150 Kickoff event Friday. Cyclers, both experienced and amateur, are welcome to sign-up for the event or to be volunteers.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Jan. 21 from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. there will be opportunities to learn more about MS, sign-up, meet the Aggie Cycling Team and enjoy refreshments. Those who register there will receive a 25% discount for signing up. The event will take place at the Aggieland Outfitters on University Drive East.<\/p>\n
