Enjoying the southern tier route a ton. Tomorrow I will hit El Paso. Time is tight as I have to meet someone that evening. Getting around Phoenix was no fun. I see the ACA route has a bypass of El Paso but it’s 5 or so miles longer. Anyone know what is fastest way though El Paso? Thanks.

Re: El Paso bypass
John Nettles
Sort of hard to know unless you live locally as I doubt more than a few non-locals have ridden both routes and kept track of the differences. My guess is that the bypass would be faster but not by much, i.e. maybe less than 30 minutes overall. Any time savings based on not having to stop at lights would be off set by the extra miles. However, there may be more places you might stop at and sight see, buy supplies, etc. along the main route so I guess that could change the equation. My suggestion is to ride an extra hour or two earlier. …

Cameron Park Blowout returns to Waco this weekend

By Gordon Collier | www.kwtx.com

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – If death defying down-hills and steep, rocky climbs are your thing, and you prefer to do that on two wheels, Cameron Park is the place for you on the weekend of March 26-27.

The Cameron Park Blowout is back after a two-year pandemic-induced hiatus.

The Blow Out is part of a series of mountain bike races sanctioned by the Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association.

Since its first year, the race has gained a reputation as one of the best of the series and put Cameron Park on the radar of mountain bikers near and far.

“The Blow-out has been going on since the late 90s and, since then, Cameron Park has …

Tour de Houston annual bike ride welcomes cyclists back with scenic city path

By Steven Devadanam | houston.culturemap.com

Heads up, Houston cyclists: an annual bike ride is back and is welcoming participants to roll out.
