The morning was as expected, cold and very damp but manageable since my clothes were dry when I packed them away last night. It was forecast to rain as we rode away but it was just a grey threatening sky and stayed dry.<\/p>\n
I discovered where some of the trees from The Big Thicket end their days, a pallet factory. I was somewhat dismayed at the thought of these ancient trees being made into plain and ordinary pallets. I do hope Texas is harvesting these trees in a sustainable manner and replanting. We were on busy US 90 until we got 25 mi out to Brackettville, then turned onto a quiet country road. We stopped at B-ville for a rest and snack.
