Holiday bike ride a hit for hundreds<\/a><\/h2>\n

Hundreds of children took a final bike ride for the year while learning about roadway safety on Saturday.<\/p>\n

About 300 children attended the Holiday Bike Ride at Safety City, according to Marina Garcia, recreation supervisor for the city\u2019s Parks and Recreation Department. The event drew families from Longview and across East Texas.<\/p>\n

The ribbon is finally cut on the White Oak bike trail extension<\/a><\/h2>\n

Hike and bike trail connectivity has just gotten better in the Houston Heights area now that work on a new connector is complete. The City of Houston held a ribbon cutting [last] Tuesday to celebrate the new MKT Spur Connector that connects the MKT and White Oak Bayou Greenway Trails.<\/p>\n

The $1.2 million project is a 850 ft. long and 10 ft. wide trail that allows residents to travel from the MKT Hike and Bike Trail to Stude Park, connecting to what used to be a dead end under Studemont Street.<\/p>\n

In response to racer interest we have now added a women\u2019s 50+ and 60+ race category. It will race combined with the women 40+, women 3\/4, and women 5 but the RESULTS will be scored separately so they\u2019ll get their own results, podium, and medals!<\/p>\n
