Memorial Park is Houston\u2019s largest urban park, and it’s in the heart of the city, but it\u2019s hard to get there without a car. Where the park isn’t hemmed in by Buffalo Bayou, it\u2019s separated from almost all neighboring communities by interstate highways and multi-lane thoroughfares with few safe crossings. Only people who live in Crestwood, the single neighborhood whose low-traffic streets have direct access to the park, can easily walk or bike there.<\/p>\n

HOUSTON \u2013 The Tour de Houston presented by Apache Corporation is back!<\/p>\n

The 16th annual bike ride will offer Houstonians and others a unique way to view the city with routes winding through Houston communities, scenic districts, and parks while raising funds for the city\u2019s Re-Plant Houston Program managed by the Houston Parks and Recreation Department.<\/p>\n

The cycling event will offer three ride-length options for cyclists of all levels.<\/p>\n

The Mayor\u2019s Office of Special Events is planning for an estimated 5,000 riders this year.<\/p>\n

After the race, participants are encouraged to stay for the post-race party which includes free food, beverages, and music. …<\/p>\n
