Good week ending on a sore note. Today was a rest day after riding 68 miles at the Jalapeno 100 in Harlingen. My saddle sores need time to heal. I think the sores are the result of the bike shorts I wore the two rides prior to yesterday and the almost constant vibration from the chip and seal road surfaces. The roads I normally ride are bumpy asphalt and concrete but not chip and seal. I try to avoid chip and seal whenever possible. The bike shorts I wore yesterday have thinner padding and bend more. On rides that use these shorts I don’t feel any discomfort while my other bike shorts are a different design and the padding is not as comfortable. I’ve been waiting for the thinner padded shorts to go on sale to buy replacements for the other bike shorts. I may not wait for a sale now. I plan on biking tomorrow but a shorter distance and hopefully smoother roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recapping the week’s bike rides I rode a total of 196.27 miles, all on the road. And I missed 2 days so I could’ve rode 200+ miles. This is the most miles in a week so far in 2023 thanks to the Jalapeno 100. Not riding Wednesday ended my string of riding every day this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
