City begins construction on shared pathways to Zilker Park<\/a><\/h2>\n

New construction on shared pathways into Zilker Park started recently to make the park more accessible to patrons without cars, according to a Feb. 21 press release from the City of Austin.<\/p>\n

Holly Hawk, director of development for the Zilker Botanical Garden Conservancy, said the conservancy is grateful to the city for funding the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to see the Zilker Pathways project provide safe access to the garden and greater connectivity to all of the Zilker metropolitan amenities,\u201d Hawk said.<\/p>\n

The project, meant to provide a mixed-use pathway for biking and pedestrian use, consists of three phases. According to the project\u2019s fact sheet, Phase 1 will cover construction on Barton Springs Road leading into Zilker Botanical Garden. Austin Public Works anticipates the …<\/p>\n

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Six East Texas female cyclists came out on International Women\u2019s Day to do what they love.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people might go to a bar, or might go dancing. We go ride our bikes,\u201d said Lynnette Wood.<\/p>\n

Lynnette Wood is a bike mechanic at Playtri. She says mountain biking is a male-dominated sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of time when you go to any mountain bike races, there are many fewer women who race. Many fewer women ride, and I love just seeing women on bikes. No matter whether they\u2019re racing or just out there riding and having fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

So Wood decided to start up this event and encourage other women to join in on the sport.<\/p>\n
