College Station woman headed to Berlin for Special Olympics World Games<\/a><\/h2>\n

Allison will be competing in cycling and is the only female cyclist going from the State of Texas.<\/p>\n

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -With less than 100 days until the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, one athlete from College Station is training hard for the chance to bring home a gold medal.<\/p>\n

Allison Dohrman, a 24-year-old cyclist with Down Syndrome, is the Lone Star State\u2019s sole representative at the 2023 World Games.<\/p>\n

The College Station resident will compete alongside just over 200 hundred athletes with the goal of covering the distance as quickly as possible to reach the finish line in their perspective competitions and races.<\/p>\n

Her loved ones view this opportunity as a once-in-a-lifetime chance, one she\u2019s worked tirelessly to earn.<\/p>\n

DART\u2019s marriage to Dallas is on the rocks<\/a><\/h2>\n

Most Dallas residents aren\u2019t tuned into the troubled marriage between City Hall and Dallas Area Rapid Transit. They should be. Hanging in the balance are tens of millions of dollars for sidewalks, traffic signals and bike lanes.<\/p>\n

Dallas and DART have clashed about the terms under which the transit agency would hand $111 million in excess sales tax to the city. A recent ultimatum from DART that it could withhold about three-quarters of that money because of delays and requested changes to the Silver Line project did not sit well with city leaders.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s unfair,\u201d City Manager T.C. Broadnax said at a recent public meeting.<\/p>\n

Bicyclist hospitalized after being hit by vehicle<\/a><\/h2>\n

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) \u2014 A bicyclist was taken to a hospital after being hit by a truck Monday evening in Harlingen, authorities say.<\/p>\n

Officers with the Harlingen Police Department responded 4th Street and Tyler Avenue in reference to an auto-pedestrian accident.<\/p>\n

A woman claimed to be hit by an older man in a truck while riding her bike, authorities say. The truck driver stopped to help and called to police to the scene.<\/p>\n

Responding officers closed the northern portion of the street to help the bicyclist.<\/p>\n

The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Gearing Up to End Hunger at Gator Ride<\/a><\/h2>\n

With a brisk wind blowing and clear skies on Saturday, more than 480 cyclists took to the roads for a good cause during the 34th annual Gator Ride.<\/p>\n

Hearts and Hands of Baytown is now serving as the organizer of the event, which was previously led by the YMCA since 1989. All proceeds from the event are going toward the Gear Up to End Hunger annual campaign to provide assistance to families in need.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are overwhelmed by the show of support and all of the riders who participated in this event,\u201d said Nikki Rincon, Hearts and Hands executive director. \u201cTheir generosity is certainly appreciated and will go a long way to helping our food pantry provide assistance to local families.\u201d<\/p>\n

March 13, 2023, BAKERSFIELD, Calif. \/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE\/ \u2013 It was a rainy weekend in Bakersfield, California for the 2023 USA Cycling Collegiate BMX National Championships. With two busy days of racing, the battle for the team omnium win put Marian University back on top.<\/p>\n

Collegiate Women<\/p>\n

The collegiate women fought hard through the rainy weekend. Lindsey Wilson College rider, Korie Gilbert (Pearland, Texas) was the points leader heading into day two of racing. The LWC senior ended up on top and finished the weekend with a gold medal after the team\u2019s trailer got stolen with all of their equipment just days before the race. Marian University\u2019s, Mya Ramos (Albuquerque, N.M.) would take second, and Sierra Altendorf (Everette, Wash.; Colorado Mesa University) would take third.<\/p>\n

With two days of strong racing, Lindenwood University\u2019s Joey Leto (Mayakka, Fla.) dominated both races on Friday and Saturday and took his first individual title just a few weeks after standing on his first elite podium in Oldsmar, Fla.
