Today’s temperature either set a record or was very close. Obviously 91 degrees in late October is not normal or the record would be much higher. During today’s ride I was actually perspiring like it was July or August. When I stopped at the Exxon station for a cold Diet Pepsi it felt very good to sit in the shade even though the breeze was there. Due to a different work schedule today I was able to ride over 32 miles on a route I have not been on for awhile. As I was riding on Huffman-Eastgate I noticed how the asphalt paving had “slipped” towards the ditch on the right hand side. I think this is caused by heat and a slick sub-base. There were places where there was a 4″ to 6″ difference in the pavement where the slide was.<\/p>\n

Scattered clouds and low humidity (48%) added to the feel of heat. Wind at 5 mph from the south was not a problem. Since I started earlier today I had no problems with unlit joggers. I did meet another biker on FM1960. The new Motobecane is still smooth riding.<\/p>\n

Amazon found out why the Shimano Ultegra pedals were not shipping and fixed it. They should get here on Friday so I may be able to install them in time for Saturday’s ride. The Lezyne pump is estimated to arrive on Saturday but after my ride. This may be a Sunday ride thing. I want to put the pump on the bike but not have a reason to use it.<\/p>\n
