I created a route using RideWithGPS after looking at the local heatmap for Lancaster. There was a lot of activity around the bike trails. I had no idea where I was riding and my Bolt computer beeped a lot when I strayed from the route. Trial and error was the theme for today’s ride.

RWGPS Heatmap Lancaster OH

The weather is cooler in Lancaster so I waited until 12:51 PM to start the ride. Some of the late start was gathering all of the things that normally are in one place. Rolling away on my Cervelo Caledonia it wasn’t long until the Bolt computer beeped as I rode off the route. I ignored it for about 1 mile as I circled the mall and found the street that took me to the trailhead. The trail was wide and portions were concrete but mostly asphalt. On the way back I took a trail not on the way to the turn around point at Pleasantview Road. It crossed through Martens Park where the trail detoured on a gravel path to the parking lot so I got a gravel ride in too. The trail went under many streets with a descent and quick ascent, sometimes with a sharp turn on either end. I passed people walking, one jogger, and a number of people on bikes. A couple of homeless people were camped beside the trail. Several parks bordered the trails as well as a creek or river. Check the video for a railroad crossing with posts in the trail. I finished at 2:51 PM after biking 20.51 miles. If I repeated the ride it would be a mile or so shorter eliminating the mistakes I made.

Exploring new territory on today’s bike ride in Lancaster, OH.
