New program allows Central Texas students to build their own bikes<\/a><\/h2>\n

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Workforce Soultions of Central Texas announces new program in partnership with local school districts and industry leaders called \u201cWrenches to Wheels: Building Bikes and Building Skills.\u201d<\/p>\n

The program aims to give sixth and seventh grade students the opportunity to build their own bikes with the help of industry professionals.<\/p>\n

In order for students to participate they must have no more than three discipline referrals and maintain good attendance.<\/p>\n

The event is planned to take place in June and July. School districts participating include Evant ISD, Copperas Cove ISD, Killeen ISD and Temple ISD.<\/p>\n

Overton will celebrate 150 years since its founding with a three-day celebration of history and accomplishment Sept. 15-17.<\/p>\n

The celebration coincides with Overton High School\u2019s football homecoming that Friday, so all of the homecoming festivities are included in this historic event. Overton High School alumni are encouraged to attend homecoming and stay for the weekend to enjoy the celebration of their city. …<\/p>\n

They begin with a parade beginning at 9 a.m., which will include bands, floats and a kids bicycle riding section, where the kids can decorate their bikes for prizes. At its June 13 meeting, the City Council approved a series of kinetic bicycle sculptures that will be located near the entrance to the new pedestrian bridge spanning Midway Road. The exact location will be finalized when the amenities for the trail adjacent to the Silver Line are designed.<\/p>\n
