Weekend volunteers sweep through freshly reopened Chartres Street bike trail for cleanup<\/a><\/h2>\n

Outfitted with brooms, dustpans, work gloves, trash bags and electric leaf blowers, a few dozen volunteers spent Saturday morning cleaning a bike trail near Chartres Street in downtown Houston.<\/p>\n

Volunteers swept the short stretch of multimodel lane beneath Interstate 69 clean within a couple of hours. The city reopened the trail, which was fenced off prior to the pandemic because of a large homeless encampment, on June 22, according to Marika Mohr with BikeHouston. \u2026<\/p>\n

Public meeting planned regarding TxDOT plans to widen FM-1179<\/a><\/h2>\n

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – TxDOT is holding a public information meeting Thursday, July 27 regarding work planned for FM-1179.<\/p>\n

This project could impact residents traveling between Boonville Road and Easterling Drive. TxDOT plans to have designs to show residents at the meeting and will be available for questions.<\/p>\n

According to the TxDOT Bryan District leaders, this project is in the planning stages and the goal is to widen FM-1179.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe proposed improvements would widen the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway, two lanes in each direction separated by a raised median with dedicated left turn lanes at selected intersections. The project would also construct roundabouts at the Coyote Run Road and Merka Road \/ Steep Hollow Road intersections, as well as provide pedestrian and bicycle accommodations along the project corridor. \u2026<\/p>\n
