The whole trail was designed with going fast in mind with sweeping corners, climbs mindfully spaced apart to allow for recovery in between them, and plenty of room to pass. The trails have multiple spectator locations around the course. There is no trail along the bayou, and Memorial Drive \u2013 which is lined by homes and businesses, often busy with vehicle traffic and has a narrow, shared-use sidewalk running alongside it \u2013 is the only major roadway that connects the two urban parks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re so close, yet because there\u2019s no safe, attractive connection between them, they feel so far away from each other,\u201d said Joe Cutrufo, the executive director of BikeHouston, a local nonprofit that advocates for cyclists.<\/p>\n<p>That gap will be closing, though, as the Houston Parks Board is receiving $8.1 million to help make it happen.
