But here\u2019s how bike share in Houston could work\n\"\"\/<\/p>\n

At Houston Bike Share, the nonprofit agency that runs the BCycle system, we\u2019ve been working to find new funding for more than a year. We\u2019ve made tough decisions, suspending stations and raising prices. And now, in the face of a major cash crunch, we plan to shut down the operation completely in the next two months.<\/p>\n

This breaks our hearts.<\/p>\n

As volunteer directors on the board, we have helped set the direction of bike share in Houston throughout much of the organization\u2019s history. We\u2019d like to share the back story on how we got to this point and offer thoughts on how bike share in Houston can get back on a roll.<\/p>\n

Scooter, bike rental program may roll into downtown Arlington, UTA if this policy change passes<\/a><\/h2>\n

An Arlington city ordinance change may clear the way for UT Arlington to launch a bike and scooter rental program that connects riders to campus and downtown.<\/p>\n

The proposed revisions would soften a 2005 ordinance that outlaws motor-assisted scooters from city streets.<\/p>\n

If passed, people would be able to drive personal or rented scooters between Fielder Road, Collins Street, Division Street and Park Row Drive. Some streets would not be included \u2013 for example, scooters and rental bicycles would not be allowed along South Cooper Street. Personal bikes would not be affected by the policy, nor would devices like motorized wheelchairs or mobility scooters.<\/p>\n

The changes also include provisions for the city government to work with UTA officials \u2026<\/p>\n
