METRO to debut bike share program in summer 2024<\/a><\/h2>\n

A new strategic bike share program that will utilize existing transit hubs is expected to roll out in summer 2024 after officials with the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County unanimously approved of funding the contract at a Sept. 28 meeting.<\/p>\n

With this initiative, commuters will be able to combine METRO\u2019s upcoming biking option with existing public transit, METRO Board Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran said, in an effort to address connectivity challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis gets us from the limbo that we are in, with the potential lack of a bike share in the fourth largest city, to having a system in place with our focus being\u2026the equitable, accessible, sustainable component, is very critical,\u201d Ramabhadran said. \u2026<\/p>\n

Journalism sophomore Cameron Aikman was leaving to buy groceries for his new apartment when he noticed something different: the balcony where he\u2019d left his bike was empty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI actually made my roommates stop in the middle of the road and I jumped onto our balcony from the sidewalk and checked to make sure it wasn\u2019t there,\u201d Aikman said. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t there.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to The University of Texas Police Department, theft is the most common crime on college campuses, with bicycle thefts in \u2026<\/p>\n

Video: Man killed after being struck by vehicle on I-37<\/a><\/h2>\n

The driver whose vehicle struck the man is still on the run from police\nA man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle that was believed to be racing another on I-37, according to San Antonio police.<\/p>\n

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m., Thursday, near Fair Avenue on the South Side.<\/p>\n

Two vehicles were traveling on the highway at a high rate of speed when one of them struck a man in his 30s or 40s, who was walking his bicycle on the left shoulder, SAPD said.<\/p>\n

The man hasn\u2019t been identified, but he died at the scene, police said.<\/p>\n

The driver involved stopped and spoke with witnesses, but once the witnesses approached the victim, the driver took off, according to officers.<\/p>\n

A search is still underway for the driver, and it\u2019s unknown what charges they will face at this time.<\/p>\n

Bicycle rider hit by vehicle, taken to hospital in San Angelo<\/a><\/h2>\n

The bicycle rider was transported to Shannon Medical Center to assess any injuries.\n\"\"\/<\/p>\n

SAN ANGELO, Texas \u2014 A man was taken to Shannon Medical Center Sept. 29 after being hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in San Angelo.<\/p>\n

According to the San Angelo Police Department, the bicycle rider was heading westbound on W. Beauregard Ave. when he attempted to cross S. Abe Street.<\/p>\n

At the same time, a vehicle was heading southbound on S. Abe Street but did not see the rider because of the sun in their eyes.<\/p>\n

The vehicle hit the rider, who is said to have potential injuries including a broken leg.<\/p>\n

Not sure why I chose today to do this long ride, the phone rang about 20x for work. I\u2019ll be slammed this afternoon as a result. I was able to at least get some decent elevation.
